Our school governing body:
Duncan Barkwith, Chair of Governors, Foundation Governor (PCC) on the Resources Committee (Chair)
“My two children both flourished during their time at Reigate Parish Church School. Since becoming a governor in 2015 I feel blessed in being able to continue my support to this fantastic school and ensuring the next classes of children being welcomed through the school gates achieve their full potential.”
Anna Randall, Vice Chair, PCC Foundation Governor
“I’ve been a Foundation Governor at Reigate Parish since March 2015 and, with two children attending the school, I see every day the commitment, hard work and passion that goes in to creating a happy and caring school environment. I have a background in drama and education, and it’s a privilege to be part of a team of governors and staff who care so much about the children and developing their love of learning.
This is a particularly exciting time at Reigate Parish, and I’m committed as part of our team to ensuring we maintain the highest standards as we grow year on year into a primary school where every child fulfils their potential in a loving, nurturing and exciting setting.”
Frances Davis, Headteacher
“I am a member of the governing body and attend all the sub-committee meetings because I am the headteacher. I have been a teacher for 20 years working in three other schools as a teacher, middle leader and deputy Headteacher. I am passionate about giving all children every opportunity to succeed, to reach their potential and to fully enjoy their time and their learning in school. I enjoy being the headteacher of Reigate Parish Church Primary School because everyone cares about the well-being of the children and everyone does their best to see the children learn, develop and progress. I work with the governors in their statutory role of ensuring the school has a clear vision and strong strategic direction; that the school sets and reaches high standards of educational achievement for all children at Reigate Parish Church Primary School and that the money school receives is used wisely and has a full impact on the children’s education.”
Bryan Ingleby, Chair of Resources, LA Governor on the Resources Committee.
“I was appointed as governor in February 2015. I am a chartered accountant and on the Boards of local NHS and housing organisations. I aim to bring my finance and strategic leadership experience to help support the school on its journey to a through primary school. It is a great privilege to be involved with such an outstanding school, and I will work with the other governors and everyone at the school to ensure that it remains a fantastic place for young people to learn.”
Claire Tait, Clerk to Governors
“I took on this role at the beginning of June 2016, my background is in teaching and the many skills which teaching requires enable me to transfer my skills successfully to this new role. I am committed to ensure that my role will support the Governing Body to be the most effective they can be. I am a mother of 2 young children and am a practising Christian.”
Sarah Kennedy, Co-opted Governor on the Resources Committee and Link Governor
“I have been the Deputy Head at the school since 2013 and a co-opted Governor since 2015. From September 2016 I am also a parent at the school. As a parent, teacher, leader and Governor I hope to bridge communication throughout the school. I work with Frances to make sure the Governors are fully informed and that we all work to ensure that Reigate Parish continues to strive for excellence. Together with Frances and the Governors I have been really involved in the expansion and planning for years 3 to 6. Aiming for outstanding in all we do means that we can ensure all children at Parish reach their potential ”
Joanna Goddard, Support Staff Governor on Children, Standards and Learning Committee
“I have been a Teaching Assistant at the school since 2011 and was elected to the Governing Body in 2014 as the support staff governor, I hope to be a link between the support staff and the leadership team. I am on the Children, Standards and Learning Committee and aim to help contribute to Reigate Parish to ensure it remains a positive and exciting environment for children to learn and develop.”
Alex Foster, Parent Governor on the Resources Committee, Treasurer of the Governors’ Fund
“I have been a member of the Governing Body since December 2013 having been voted in as a parent governor. I have three children, all of whom have been to the school (two are still there). Being a governor gives me a fascinating insight and an active participation in the school beyond dropping them off at the school gates.
It is a significant time for the school and I am excited to be actively involved in the shaping of the school for the future.”
Alasdair Wylie, Foundation Governor (SDBE) on the Children, Standards and Learning Committee
I have two children who have been to the Parish school and have seen how they have flourished as a result of the passion and commitment shown by all in the Parish community, my youngest child starts in September 2016. I have a background as an engineering consultant and hope to use the varied professional skills and experiences I have to support the school and help it to continue to provide a caring and supportive environment for our children to grow and develop all aspects of themselves.
Claire MacBride, PCC Governor
“I have the immense privilege of beginning a new role as a PCC governor, commencing September 2016. I have three small children, and my eldest is currently in Year 1. We are so fortunate to belong to St Mary’s Church family and having worked as a teacher in two Christian secondary schools, I aim to be involved in supporting the Christian values of the school, most especially recognising and nurturing the unique qualities and potential of every child. In addition, I hope to use my experience to benefit the school’s exciting transition from an infant to a primary school, having previously been responsible for new curriculum changes at both GCSE, and A’Level.”
Mike Shaw, PCC Foundation Governor
“I have joined the Board of Governors effective September 2016. As a father of two girls at the school, I have a strong vested interest in the success of the Primary School transition and will be doing all I can to ensure the school continues to provide an amazing learning environment for all pupils. I am committed to lending every support to the Leadership Team throughout my tenure, and ensuring that the school’s Christian values and strong management are focused towards the best educational outcomes possible.”
Katie Cornish, PCC Foundation Governor
I joined the Governing Body in March 2017 as a Foundation Governor. I am very fortunate to have a daughter who is currently in Year 1 at the school, and who is thriving as a result of the nurturing environment and first class teaching. I am very excited about the current expansion to a through primary school and the opportunity to develop the reach of its unique ethos and quality teaching into Key Stage 2. As a member of St Marys Church Family I am particularly committed to ensuring that the Christian values are maintained and strengthened as the school expands. I have a background in marketing and data analysis and hope that I can bring the skills that I have acquired in my professional life to help and support the school to continue to thrive, providing each and every pupil with the best educational experience in a safe and caring environment.
